Oskar Blues’ new Gold Rush Bike Rally promises epic adventure as cyclists race through Boulder’s historic gold mining trails and high country back roads.
Course combines gravel roads, secret singletrack, and steep canyons, which were all built during Boulder’s Gold Rush in the mid 1800’s.
Boulder, CO (July 12, 2016) - Adventure Fit, a Boulder-based event marketing company, today announced the courses for the Oskar Blues Gold Rush Bike Rally (http://goldrushbikerally.com). Launching on August 28th, 2016, this epic cycling adventure offers two courses (35 mile and 51 mile) both starting and finishing in North Boulder Park. Cyclists will take on all three of Boulder’s canyons (Sunshine, 4-mile, and Lefthand), the Switzerland Trail (which used to be a railroad line for transporting ore), and roll through Gold Hill, one of Colorado’s oldest towns.
“We created the Gold Rush Bike Rally to showcase the amazing riding and history that Boulder, CO is known for. The courses were created to combine lots of different terrain, beautiful views, and exciting descents”, said Josh Kravetz, President of Adventure Fit. “It pairs perfectly with our winter event, the Oskar Blues Old Man Winter Rally.”
More than 1000 people are expected at this year’s Gold Rush Bike Rally. There are cash prizes for the top riders on the long course and all riders are encouraged to look for ‘Gold Nuggets’ hanging along the course. The Gold Nuggets have tickets on them which are exchanged for over $5000 in prizes that range from gift certificates at local retailers to a custom REEB bike frame valued at $2000.
A fun after party awaits riders in North Boulder Park with cold Oskar Blues beer, the CLIF Bar lounge, and a post-ride meal. The event raises funds for CAN’d Aid Foundation’s Treads + Trails program, which will help build new trails for Boulder County’s cyclists and runners.
